White Funeral Home Independence – Dale D. Stupp, 89 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, March 15, 2014, at New Aldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, Iowa. He was born on August 27, 1924, in Sumner, Iowa, the son of Clayton William and Mathilda (Harder) Stupp. He graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa, with the Class of 1941. He served in the Army Air Corps during the Japanese Occupation of World War II. On August 16, 1953, he and the former Katherine May Bundy were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. She preceded him in death on March 6, 2014. Mr. Stupp farmed and also was the Post Master in Hazleton, Iowa, until retiring. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, the Bechter-Boies V.F.W. Post #2440, and the Sheehan-Tidball American Legion Post #30, all in Independence. He was formerly a member of the Hazleton Volunteer Fire Department and the West Village Care Review Committee. Mr. Stupp enjoyed singing, dancing with Mrs. Stupp, sports, and putting together puzzles. He also liked horses and being out of doors. Mr. Stupp is survived by 4 daughters, Judy (Ronald) Clough of Danbury, Iowa, Rosemary Potts of Independence, Iowa, Sandra Gardner of Waterloo, Iowa, and Deanna (Patrick) Hurst of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Joan Engen, 2 granddaughters, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence, Iowa. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation for an hour before services at the church on Wednesday. A Memorial Fund has been established for Wee Care Preschool at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements. |
