Oelwein – Roger L. Clarke, 63 years old, of Oelwein, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 6, 2014, at UPH Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. He was born on June 11, 1950, in Rockford, Illinois, the son of William Ora and Evelyn Fern (Grimm) Clarke. He graduated from Prairie High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, with the Class of 1969 and then, earned an associates degree at KirkwoodCommunity College. He also studied at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. On August 13, 1984, he and the former Bonnie Jean Cordle were married in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. Mr. Clarke was a Wastewater Technician and Public Works Director in St. Charles, Winterset, and Nora Springs, Iowa. Later he was a self employed carpenter who worked on residential projects. He held a 7thDegree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and taught the skills to others for many years.
Mr. Clarke is survived by his wife, Bonnie, 2 daughters, Sherry Thompson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Jessica (Ronnie) Lovell of Central City, Iowa, 1 son, Jake (Anna) Clarke of Independence, Iowa, 4 grandchildren, and 1 brother, Loyal Clarke of Gassville, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
