White Funeral Home Independence – Laverne M. Weber 87 years old of Independence, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Monday, February 24, 2014, at Unity Point Health/Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, IA. He was born October 10, 1926, at Independence, IA, the son of John Francis Weber and Alice Rose (Moore) Weber. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. On April 12, 1969, he was united in marriage to Relda Mae Klingeman at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, IA. Mr. Weber was employed at John Deere in Waterloo, IA, as a machinist until retirement. After retirement he drove schoolbus for Independence and Jesup schools. He also enjoyed hobby farming. He was a member of UAW Local 838 in Waterloo, a former member of Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 in Jesup and was a member of the Jesup Bible Fellowship. Mr. Weber is survived by his wife, Relda Weber of Independence; one step daughter, Deborah Schellhorn of Waterloo; three step sons, Clyde Johanningmeier of Great Falls, MN, Bruce Johanningmeier of Tacoma, WA , Kevin Johanningmeier of Independence; 10 step grandchildren; 32 step great grandchildren; one step great great grandchild; one sister, Elizabeth Bulver of Waterloo. His parents, two sisters, Dorothy Nissen and Gladys Mayers; three brothers, Donald, Francis and Bernard Weber and one son in childhood, Patrick Weber, preceded him in death. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 28, 2014, at Jesup Bible Fellowship, Jesup, IA, with Pastor Matthew Perez officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 of Jesup. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. Memorials will be directed to Jesup Bible Fellowship. |
