White Funeral Home Waterloo – Ronald W. McCombs, 64 years old of Dysart and formerly of Waterloo, died Saturday, January 11, 2014, at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo. He was born December 26, 1949, in Waterloo, the son of Melvin Howard McCombs and Jean (Reeves) McCombs. He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1968 and then served four years in the US Navy. On September 25, 1971 he was united in marriage to Rosemary Jean Leohr at the American Lutheran Church in Jesup, IA. They later divorced. Ronald was employed by Deere & Company in Waterloo as a machinist until his retirement in August of 2009. He enjoyed his grandchildren, bowling and pool leagues, playing cards and dirt track racing. He will also be remembered for his contagious laugh that was so identifiable. He was a member of U.A.W. Local 838 in Waterloo. Mr. McCombs is survived by one daughter, Brandy (Brad) Schultz of Brandon; one son, Bryan (Dana) McCombs of Dysart; 9 grandchildren; also his mother, Jean (Leonard) Randall of Waterloo; one brother, Kevin (Denise) McCombs of Jesup; four sisters, Connie (Daryl) Waters of Waterloo, Marla (Greg) Wilkinson of Indianola, Paula (Robert) Yount of Waterloo, Sandra (Travis) Mesenbrink of Three Forks, MT. He is preceded in death by his father, Melvin McComb. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Wednesday, January 15, 2014, at Calvary Baptist Church, 1509 Rainbow Dr., Waterloo, IA, with burial in Quasqueton Cemetery, Quasqueton, IA. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family. |
