White Funeral Home Independence – Elizabeth A. Strausser, 81 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa. She was born on September 7, 1932, in Bertha, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Irene (Redden) Juergens. She graduated from high school in Verndale, Minnesota, with the Class of 1950. On December 23, 1951, she and Edwin Harley Wright were married in Aurora, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1974. On July 30, 1983, she and Gearald Keith Strausser were married in Aurora. He preceded her in death in 1996. Mrs. Strausser was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence and she was formerly a member of AARP. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with her neighbors, playing the slot machines at the casino, and attending activities at the Senior Center in Independence. Mrs. Strausser is survived by 5 sons, Gary (Carol) Wright of Independence, Iowa, Lester Wright of Blairsville, Georgia, Rick Wright of Parkville, Missouri, Ron Wright of Iowa City, Iowa, and Randy “Ty” (Shelby) Wright of Aurora, Iowa, and 3 daughters, Delores Wright and Teresa (Jerry) Kopf, both of Independence, Iowa, and Brenda (Greg) Vande Voorde of Aurora, Iowa. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Alice Cook of Clarissa, Minnesota. In addition to both of her husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents and two sons, Edwin Wright and Fred Wright. Memorial Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 7, 2013, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating. Burial will be in Madison Township Cemetery near Aurora, Iowa. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 6th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. |
