Independence –Florine B. Scott, 85 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Friday, November 1, 2013, at ABCM Rehab Independence-East in Independence.  She was born on December 20, 1927, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of John and Mina (Baily) Pattison.  She attended school in West Union, Iowa.  On April 9, 1945, she and James Richard Scott were married in Oelwein,Iowa.  He preceded her in death in 1982.  Mrs. Scott was a care giver in several situations.  She was a nurse’s aide and a medical aide.  She also worked at a group home in Oelwein and she worked with Senior Companions in Waterloo.  She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Independence and at one time was the secretary/treasurer of the Sunday School.

Mrs. Scott is survived by her son, Rick (Reena) Scott of Independence, 2 grandsons, Todd (Roxann) Scott and Richard Scott ll, both of Independence, and 1 sister, Laura Mae Colvin of Waterloo,Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, Ralph Hare and David Pattison, and 3 sisters, Lillian Gray, Evelyn Miller, and Katherine Boudreau.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013, at the First Baptist Church in Independence, Iowa, with Dr. David A. Larson officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 5, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
