Independence – Brett L. McGill, 51 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on October 6, 2013, at his home.  He was born inWaterloo, Iowa, on February 27, 1962, the son of Dwayne Anthony and Sherry Eileene (Clark) McGill.  He graduated from high school in Jesup, Iowa, with the Class of 1980.  On May 9, 1981, he and the former Judith Ann Oberle were married at St. John’sCatholic Church in Independence.  Mr. McGill was the distribution manager for over 30 years at Wonder Bread in Waterloo, Iowa. For over 20 years, he built and drove IMCA stock cars on the racing circuit.  He discontinued that activity in order to spend more time with his family.  Also, he and his wife enjoyed traveling all over the country on their motorcycle.

Mr. McGill is survived by his wife of 32 years, Judy, 1 daughter, Renee McGill of Independence, Iowa, and Rick (Jenna) McGill of Kirksville, Missouri, his father, Dwayne McGill and his mother, Sherry McGill, both of Jesup, Iowa.  He is also survived by 3 brothers, Chris (Wendy) McGill of Jesup, Iowa, Randy (Tina) McGill of Hutchinson, Minnesota, and Jason McGill ofIndependence, Iowa, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 10, 2013, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, with Sharon Bainbridge officiating.  Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9^th, at the funeral home.
