Stanley – Duane “Mike” D. Stoner, 72 years old, of Stanley, Iowa, died at his home on Friday, September 27, 2013.  He was born in Buchanan County, near Brandon, Iowa, on April 15, 1941, the son of Lewis William and Velma Opal (Stanford) Stoner.  On February 26, 1992, he and the former Danita B. Hopper were married in Las Vegas, Nevada.  Mr. Stoner was an independent owner/operator long haul truck driver until retiring in 2006.  He enjoyed visiting with friends, working on cars and trucks and playing cards.  And, since every job needs a supervisor, he was always ready to fill that position with anyone’s project.

Mr. Stoner is survived by his wife, Danita, 3 sons, Rick (Jennifer) Stoner of Grundy Center, Iowa, Terry (Joan) Stoner of Hudson, Iowa, and Jamie (Trish) Stoner of Hawaii, 1 step son, John Aves of Pahrump, Nevada, and 2 step daughters, Dawn (Tim) Wozniak of Maple Park, Illinois, and Karen Morris of Stanley, Iowa.  He is also survived by 18 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 4 brothers, Norm (Louise) Stoner of North Liberty, Iowa, Dwight (Mary) Stoner of Waterloo, Iowa, Dan (Diane) Stoner of Independence, Iowa, and Wes Stoner of Cedar Falls, Iowa, and 2 sisters, Connie (Craig) Klinefelter of Reinbeck, Iowa, and Verna Jones of Marion, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, Shirley Axline, and 2 brothers, Darwin Stoner and Lloyd Stoner.

Mr. Stoner’s body was donated to the University of Iowa in Iowa City, Iowa.  A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
