White Funeral Home Jesup – James J. Youngblut, 79 years old of Jesup, IA, died Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at his home following a lengthy illness. He was born March 27, 1934, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Arthur Francis Youngblut and Anna (Welter) Youngblut. He graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1953. On September 1, 1958, he was united in marriage to Lenora G. Schares at St. Athanasius Church in Jesup. Jim farmed his whole life and also worked 36 years at John Deere in Waterloo on the assembly line. He retired from John Deere in March 1991. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Knight of Columbus Council 8227 in Jesup and the United Auto Workers Union Local 838 in Waterloo. Jim is survived by his wife, Lenora of Jesup; two sons, Michael (Donna) Youngblut of Jesup, Chad (Holly) Youngblut of Jesup; three daughters, Lisa (Alfred) Schmit of Jesup, Kimberly (Milt) Dakovich of Waterloo, Tracy (Dan) Flaharty of Jesup; 16 grandchildren, Jeremy, Brandon and Shaye Schmit; A.J. Youngblut and Amanda Youngblut; Austin Shatzer, Shari Meyer; Kelly, Chance and Brigette Dakovich; Brett, Brock, Allison and Alex Flaharty; Avery and Aiden Youngblut; also, one sister, Shirley (Art Jr.) Trebon of Beverly Hills, FL. He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Cleo, Arthur “Tommy”, Melvin and Charles Youngblut; and two sisters, Gladys Klunenberg and Madelyn Frost. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Friday, September 27, 2013, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA with Fr. Scott Boone officiating. Burial will be at the St. Athanasius Cemetery in Jesup. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Knights of Columbus Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. Vigil service. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church and St. Athanasius School in Jesup. |
