White Funeral Home Jesup –Roger L. Alston, 78 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, September 13, 2013 at his home of cancer. He was born October 5, 1934, at Tama, IA, the son of Lee Alston and Bertha (Collins) Alston. On November 7, 1954, he was united in marriage to Karla Kay Kesl in Tama. They live at Littleton of 10 years before moving to Jesup. Roger drove trucks over the road and locally for various companies until retirement. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Jesup. Mr. Alston is survived by his wife, Karla of Jesup; two daughters, Barbara (John) Bovy of Buckingham, IA, Mary Alston of Keego Harbor, MI; four sons, Kenneth Alston of Waterloo, Roger (Carrie) Alston, Jr. of Waterloo, Michael (Susan) Alston of Spring, TX, Charles (Marie) Alston of Aurora; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; 3 step-grandchildren; and one step-sister, Marie Dumire of Readlyn. He was preceded in death by his parents, one grandson, Nicholas Alston; and one great granddaughter, Hayli Kresser. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. - Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA with Rev. Lynn C. Gardner officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Monday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials will be directed to the First United Methodist Church in Jesup and to the Cedar Valley Hospice. |
