Jesup Florence L. Greenlee, 99 years old of Columbia, IL, died Saturday,  August 17, 2013 in Columbia, IL. She was born May 26, 1914, in Farnam, NE, daughter of the late William Wharton and and Hannah, (Amstutz) Wharton. She was married to the late Frank M. Greenlee. They were married July 18, 1935, in Denver Co. He passed away in 1976.

Florence attended high school at Farnam, NE and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. She then taught school for several years in the Sandhills of Nebraska and near Farnam, NE. In 1935 she married Frank M. Greenlee of Moorefield, NE, later moving to Waterloo, IA and in 1948, to Jesup, IA. She taught piano for many years in Jesup and later was secretary to the superintendent of the Jesup Public School until 1979, at which time she retired. She was a member of First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, The Even Dozen Study Club, and Order of the Eastern Star. She was also the church organist for many years. Besides her love for music, she loved nature, horseback riding, and taking care of her kitties. She was very talented with her craft of knitting and sewing. Since September of 2000, she made her permanent residence close to her family in Columbia, IL. She continued her music ministry at Bethany United Methodist Church, Columbia, IL.

Surviving are her daughter, Sue (Don) Barlow of Columbia, IL, granddaughter, Stacy (Tim) McKenzie of St. Louis, MO, great-granddaughters, Sara and Kelly Carr of Columbia, IL.

She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Naomi Farris, Helen Wharton, Bessie Vig, and Martha Black, and a brother, Harold Wharton.

Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, August 22, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup, IA. Visitation will be for an hour before services Thursday at the church.  Memorials will be directed to Bethany United Methodist Church, Columbia, IL, or First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA
