Independence – June E. Ghere, 83 years old, of Cascade, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2013, at the Shady Rest Care Center in Cascade.  She was born on June 3, 1930, in Urbana, Iowa, the daughter of Loren E. and Elsie E. (Falck) Rosenstiel.  She graduated from high school in Independence, Iowa.  On June 27, 1948, she and William “Bill” Merle Ghere were married at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence.  He preceded her in death in 2012.  Mrs. Ghere was always involved with caring for her family.  In later years, she also helped manage the Independence Youth Center.

Mrs. Ghere is survived by her son, Mikel (Janet) Ghere of Clear Lake, Iowa, her daughter, Cindy (Dale) Reck of Anamosa, Iowa, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, LaVon Brown of Ames, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Nancy Schuman, and 1 brother, Dale Rosenstiel.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 18^th, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence with Pastor Kurt Bockoven officiating.  Casket Bearers will be T.J. Reck, Mike Reck, Jesse Ghere, and Billie Serocki.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation after 10 a.m. on Thursday at the church.
