Dunkerton - Alice M. Westendorf, 93, formerly of Dunkerton, IA died Wednesday, June 26, 2013, at NewAldaya Lifescapes in Cedar Falls, IA.  She was born June 2, 1920, at Sumner, IA, the daughter of William A. Tietje and Emma (Schlomann) Tietje.  She was baptized June 20, 1920, and confirmed May 20, 1934, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Sumner.  She graduated from Sumner High School with the class of 1938.  On April 10, 1945, She was united in marriage to Wendell Rudolph Westendorf,  at Sumner, IA.  They made their home at Dunkerton for many years and Wendell preceded her in death on July 17, 1996, after 51 years of marriage.  Alice taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.  She enjoyed embroidery and making quilts, playing cards and camping and fishing with her husband and cousins.

Mrs. Westendorf is survived by two sons, Steve Westendorf of Cedar Rapids and Larry (Vickie) Westendorf of Waterloo; one daughter, Elaine (Galen) Schellhorn of Sumner; 3 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.  In addition to her husband, Wendell, her parents and one brother, Herb Tietje, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 3:00 p.m. – Friday, June 28, 2013 at Concordia Lutheran Church, 1005 West Parker Street, Waterloo, IA, with Rev. David L. Steege officiating.  Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo.  Visitation will be for an hour before services Friday at the church.
