Independence – Calvin M. Drafahl, 56 years old, of Marion, Iowa, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, May 23, 2013, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.  He was born on December 7, 1956, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Floyd and Arliss (Collins) Drafahl.  He graduated from East Buchanan High School in Winthrop, Iowa, with the Class of 1975.  On July 17, 1982, he and the former Linda Kay Porter were married at Zion Lutheran Church – Jubilee in rural LaPorte City, Iowa.  They later divorced.  Mr. Drafahl was a bar tender at Glenn’s Checkered Flag in Independence and he also worked at Iowa Ham in Independence.  He liked to spend time fishing locally.

Mr. Drafahl is survived by 1 daughter, Taryn Dugan of Independence, Iowa, his father, Floyd Drafahl of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and 4 brothers, Mark (Sylvia) Drafahl of Tremont, Illinois, Russ (Sally) Drafahl of Dubuque, Iowa, Chris (Jackie) Drafahl of Waterloo, Iowa, and Shawn (Lori) Drafahl of Johnston, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 30, 2013, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
