Jesup – Arlene Ann Schima, 64, of Jesup, IA, died April 3, 2013, at Manor Care Nursing and Rehab Center in Waterloo and began her journey to be with her daughter Beth.

Arlene was born November 19, 1948, in Oelwein IA, daughter of Bernard “John” and Irene (Bencke) Smock.  She married Gary William Schima, August 24, 1969, in Oelwein, IA.

Arlene graduated from Oelwein Community High School with the class of 1967 and from Ellsworth Community College, Iowa Falls, in 1969.  She was employed at LOOK Magazine before becoming a full time housewife and mother.

She is survived by her husband, Gary of Jesup; one son, Robert of Austin, TX; one grandson, Connor Ryan of Winthrop; two granddaughters, Taylor Bowman of Homestead, and Nicole Ryan of Winthrop; one great grandson, Landon Marshall Bowman of Homestead; one brother, Rex (Nancy) Wilsen of Phoenix AZ; and her two faithful dogs, Gunter and Mica.

Her parents, her daughter Beth, her brother, E.J. “Mike” Smock, and her sister Sue Hayek, preceded her in death.

Memorial Services will be 10:30 am - Monday April 8, 2013, at the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup, with Pastor Jenna L. Couch officiating. Special music will be by Acacia Scott.  Burial will be at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup at a later date.  Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 7^th at the White Funeral Home in Jesup.  Memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
