White Funeral Home Brandon - Jaron L. Sweet, 74 years old, of Brandon, Iowa, died on Friday, April 5, 2013, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on November 1, 1938, in Houston, Minnesota, the son of Nick and Myrtle (Lee) Sweet. He graduated from high school in Houston, MN. He served in the U.S. Army. On January 28, 1961, he and the former Ruth Carol Runingen were married in West Salem, Wisconsin. She preceded him in death in 1994. Mr. Sweet worked at John Deere in Waterloo, Iowa, on the transmission assembly line for 30 years. He retired in 1993. Mr. Sweet was a member of Zion Lutheran Church – Jubilee in rural LaPorte City, Iowa, U.A.W. Local #838, and the Birthday Club. He was a huge Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed time with his grandchildren, fishing trips to northern Minnesota, and planting flowers and working in his yard. He also liked playing cards and playing pool with his friends at Phat Albert’s in Brandon and Rush Park in Independence. Mr. Sweet is survived by 2 daughters, Susan (Tyler) Albert and Stacy (Chris) Nabholz, both of Brandon, Iowa, 5 granddaughters, Maggie Albert, Olivia Albert, Ellie Nabholz, Addie Nabholz, and Cora Nabholz and 2 sisters, Nona (Gordon) Larson of Galesville, Wisconsin, and Diane (Murrel) Prey of La Crescent, Minnesota. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, and 1 son, Gregory Sweet. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 9, 2013, at Zion Lutheran Church – Jubilee in rural LaPorte City, Iowa, with Pastor Jenna Couch officiating. Burial will be in Brandon Cemetery in Brandon, Iowa. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Monday, April 8th, at White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa. |
