Independence – Rosella “Sally” Piazzon, 84 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 4, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa, following a sudden illness.  She was born on April 2, 1928, in St. Peter’s, Wisconsin, the daughter of Albert and Martha (Schneider) Koenigs.  She attended school in Wisconsin, but was unable to finish at that time.  Learning was always important to Mrs. Piazzon and she earned her G.E.D. in 1996 in Waterloo, Iowa.  On February 26, 1949, she and Louis Piazzon were married in Mt. Calvary, Wisconsin.  Mrs. Piazzon worked in the housekeeping department of Peoples Memorial Hospital in Independence for 16 years.  She was a care giver in every situation.  She also loved to write and is remembered as a perfect speller.  Mrs. Piazzon was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence.

Mrs. Piazzon is survived by her husband of 63 years, Louis, and 4 daughters, Sandra Hamlin of Los Alamitos, California, Theresa Smith of Barrington, Illinois, Mary (John) Segriff of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Annette (Bob Gantt) Piazzon of Merrimack, New Hampshire.  She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Lillian (William) Kraus and Mary Jane (Ben) Kraus, both of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Lyle Piazzon, and 2 brothers, Francis Koenigs and Paul Koenigs.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, December 7, 2012, St. John’s Catholic Church in Independence, Iowa.  Rev. Donald Plamondon will be the Celebrant.  Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 6th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Parish Rosary begins at 3 p.m. and a Vigil Service begins at 7:30 P.M.
