Independence – David Lester Carson, 51 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, August 6, 2012, at his home following a sudden illness.  He was born on September 21, 1960, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Harold Allen and Beverly June (Cue) Carson.  He graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1979.  On June 27, 1981, he and the former Bonnie Marie Stacey were married at his parents’ home in rural Brandon, Iowa.  She preceded him in death in 2004.  Mr. Carson was a project manager with Larson Construction in Independence.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Buchanan County Historical Society, and the Artist Blacksmiths Association of North America.  Mr. Carson enjoyed taking part in Buckskin Rendezvous events and was collecting tools to begin blacksmithing.  He also played golf.

Mr. Carson is survived by 2 sons, Jeff Carson of Waterloo, Iowa, and Jeremy Carson of Independence, Iowa, 1 daughter, Joni (Lee) Federspiel of Independence, Iowa, his mother, June Carson of Independence, Iowa, and 1 sister, Julie (Don) Shannon of Ankeny, Iowa.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2012, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa, with Mrs. Tom Searcy officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 9th, at the funeral home.
