Independence – Genevieve Doris Satterlee Cook, 86 years old, of Silver Spring, Maryland, formerly of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, July 4, 2012, in Silver Spring.  She was born on October 12, 1925, in Independence, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur Amos and Lois Miriam Hayzlett Satterlee.  She was united in marriage to Clarence Harlan Cook and he preceded her in death in 1994.  Mrs. Cook was a Registered Nurse before she retired.

Mrs. Cook is survived by 2 sons, Larry (Catherine Fletcher) Cook of Melbourne, Australia, and Craig A. Cook of San Francisco, California, and 2 daughters, Kathleen (Henry) Schmidt of Silver Spring, Maryland, and Suzanne (Barry) Rosloff of Garrett Park, Maryland.  She is also survived by 4 grandchildren, James H. Cook, Susan J. Farrer, Michael L. Rosloff, and Genevieve Rosloff, 4 great grandchildren, Maddie, Tom, Sophie, and Holly Farrer, 1 brother, Clark Satterlee of Independence, Iowa, and 2 sisters, Sheila Lamphier of Independence, Iowa, and Sharon Kessler of Monterrey, California.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, John Satterlee and Jerome Satterlee.

Private family services are planned at the White Funeral Home in Independence, Iowa.  Burial will be in Wilson Cemetery in Independence.
