Independence – Janice Ann Kingrey, 69 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Saturday, April 28, 2012, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was born on July 9, 1942, in Clayton County, Iowa, the daughter of Arthur M. and Norma Fern (Fisher) Johnson. She attended the area schools and, in 1980, she earned her A.A. degree at Hawkeye School of Technology in Waterloo, Iowa. In 2005, she and Darrell Eugene Kingrey were married in Independence, Iowa. Mrs. Kingrey was a bookkeeper and accountant at area businesses before retiring in 1998. She was a country music enthusiast and enjoyed trips to Branson, Missouri, attending concerts, and joining fan clubs. She was a line dancer. She also liked camping and the outdoors. She was a former Girl Scout Leader and a former foster care mother. Mrs. Kingrey is survived by her husband, Darrell, 3 daughters, Shirley Eschen of Guttenberg, Iowa, Teresa (David) Erger of Brandon, Iowa, and Lori (Aaron) Hauren of Oelwein, Iowa, and 1 son, Wayne Brewer of Independence, Iowa. She is also survived by 3 step daughters, Christie (Mike) Luckey of Milan, Illinois, and April Kingrey and Wendy (Randy) Doran, both of Mediapolis, Iowa, 6 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, and 1 great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 3, 2012, at the Hope Wesleyan Church in Independence, Iowa, with Pastor Bob Solon officiating. Casket Bearers will be Mike Brown, Kalobb Brown, Kyle Brown, Anthony Erger, Wendy Doran, and Randy Doran. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens in Hazleton, Iowa. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, May 2nd, at the funeral home.
