Independence – Paul E. Jones, 88 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Monday, March 5, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center LTC in Independence. He was born on December 25, 1923, in Iowa Falls, Iowa, the son of Paul Edwin and Helen Mary (Bryson) Jones, Sr. He graduated from high school in Iowa Falls with the Class of 1942. He then served in the Pacific Theatre with the U.S. Navy during World War II. On December 30, 1945, he and the former Donna Mae Pierce were married in Iowa Falls. They moved to Independence in 1956 where Mr. Jones was the manager for the Independence Area of Northwestern Bell. He retired in 1982. Mr. Jones was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Masonic Lodge (over 50 years) in Independence.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna, 1 daughter, Laurie (Mark) Rohlfing of Nevada, Iowa, and 1 son, Brad (Susan) Jones of Ankeny, Iowa. He is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 1 brother, Philip (Betty) Jones of The Villages, Florida.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter, Julie Brown, and 2 granddaughters in infancy, Lindsey Brown and Molly Jones.

Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Friday, March 9, 2012, at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence with Rev. John Hougen officiating. Casket Bearers will be Rob Brown, Ryan Brown, Tom Rohlfing, Kimberly Rohlfing, Joey Jones, and Trent Jones.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.

Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 8th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
