WATERLOO – Josephine J. Flammang, 95 years old of Waterloo, IA, died Monday, January 23, 2012 at Park View Nursing and Rehab Center, Waterloo.  She was born September 27, 1916, in Black Hawk County, IA the daughter of Nick Flammang and Katherine (Kies) Flammang.  She graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1933.  Josephine was a member of  several Catholic parishes over the years as she fulfilled her duties as a house keeper for priests. These parishes included Immaculate Conception at Blessing, St. Joseph at Raymond, St. Patrick’s at Cedar Falls, and Sacred Heart at Grundy Center.  She retired in 1972.  She was currently a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA and also a member of the Legion of Mary and a member of the Mercy Associates in Cedar Rapids.

Miss Flammang is survived by a nephew, Joseph (Janice) Demuth of Dunkerton and nieces, LaVonne Demuth of Waterloo and Marilyn Demuth of Waverly as well as many great nieces and nephews.  She is preceded in death by her parents; 4 sisters, Clara Friedmann, Laura Flammang, Cecilia Flammang, Emily Demuth; and three brothers, one in infancy along with  Matt Flammang and Bill Flammang.

Funeral services will be 11:00 am – Friday, January 27, 2012 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA with burial at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery, Jesup, IA.  Visitation will be from 3:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 4:00 p.m. and a Vigil service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Waterloo, IA and to St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA.
