Independence – Debra S. Jones, 42 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2012, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.  She was born on January 23, 1969, in Independence, the daughter of Robert Frederick and Doreen L. “Dee” (Jacobus) Jones.  She graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1988.  She attended NIACC in Mason City, Iowa, and Kirkwood Community College in Cedar Rapids.  Before she was disabled by her illness, Ms. Jones was a sales agent for Motorsports Authentics in Concord, North Carolina.  She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Independence Women’s Bowling Association.  In addition to bowling, she enjoyed golf, softball, and volleyball.  She loved animals and was an amateur wildlife photographer.

Deb is survived by her parents, “Dee” and Robert Jones of Independence, Iowa, 1 brother, Rob Jones of Huntersville, North Carolina, her paternal grandmother, Lela Jones of Independence, Iowa, and her maternal grandmother, Helen Jacobus of Atkins, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by both of her grandfathers.

Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 16, 2012, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Pastor Ginny Bass officiating.  Casket Bearers will be Ralph Jones, Roger Jones, Ron Jacobus, Matt Jones, Mike Jones, and Daermon Garrigus.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. 

The family will greet friends after 9:30 a.m. on Monday, January 16th, at the funeral home.
