Winthrop - Dolores Ann Schabacker, 84 years old, formerly of Winthrop, IA, died Monday, December 26, 2011, at West Village Care Center, Independence, IA where she was a resident.  She was born February 4, 1927, at Greeley, IA, the daughter of Elmer Clarence Kuhlman and Evangeline Ruth (Ward) Kuhlman.  She graduated from Greeley High School and then attended Gates Business College.  During WWII she worked in Washington, D.C. for the Quarter Master General at the Pentagon.  On June 22, 1947, she was united in marriage to Albert Lewis Schabacker in Greeley, IA.  He preceded her in death on May 30, 2010.  Dolores was a former member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Aurora, IA.  She enjoyed music and loved playing the organ, as well as knitting, sewing and gardening.

Mrs. Schabacker is survived by two daughters, Julie (Leland “Gene”) Dudley of Aurora, IA, and Joan (Tim) Lehs of Winthrop, IA; one son, Scott (Susan) Schabacker of Jesup, IA; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren;  one brother, Ward “Bud” (Maxine) Kuhlman of Howell, MI; two sisters, Ruth (Eugene) Duncan of Cuba City, WI and Ramona (Eugene) Perrinjaquet of Manchester, IA.  In addition to her husband, her parents and one granddaughter preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the White Funeral Home, Independence, IA, with burial at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Hazelton, IA.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28th at the funeral home.
