WAUKON – David Robert Demuth, 52 years old, of Waukon, IA, and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at Veterans Memorial Hospital, Waukon, IA, of an apparent heart attack.  He was born September 15, 1959, at People’s Memorial Hospital in Independence, IA, the son of Paul Franklin Demuth and Cleone Josephine (Reiter) Demuth. He attended Divine Word Seminary High School, at East Troy, WI, for two years and then Jesup High School graduating with the class of 1978. He went on to receive his Building Trades Certificate from Hawkeye Technical College, and later became a member of Carpenter’s LOCAL 110 of Kansas City, MO. David married Nancy Bjorheim in Jesup, IA, and they later divorced. He worked at the Waukon Feed Ranch doing what he loved which was maintenance and carpentry work.

Dave enjoyed fishing, especially going to Canada and Minnesota for his annual fishing trips. He also enjoyed reading, working with cattle, camping, and pumpkin pie, but most of all he loved being with his family.

Mr. Demuth is survived by 7 sisters, Barbara Sharp of Barre, VT, Marilyn (Lynn) Schulte of Prole, IA, Ruth Demuth of Tiffin, IA, Teresa (Michael) Myers of Waukon, IA, Rose (Edward) Irlbeck of Dedham, IA, Susan Tarasi of Ankeny, IA, Patricia (Randy) Glassell of Fontanelle, IA, 4 brothers, James (Meriel) Demuth of Clarion, IA, Anthony (Debbie) Demuth of St. Joseph, MO, Fritz (Marge) Demuth of Jesup, IA, Ronald (Sylvia) Demuth of Encinitas, CA, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul “Bud” in 1998 and Cleone on October 20, 2011, also a nephew Lucas Demuth and a brother-in-law Frank Tarasi.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. – Saturday, October 29, 2011, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with Fr. Kenneth C. Stecher as celebrant.  Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Friday, Oct. 28, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, Iowa, where there will be a Parish Rosary at 3:00 p.m. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Church in Jesup and other charities.
