Over the course of her cancer treatments, Beth participated in multiple clinical trials at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, and following her funeral services, she will be taken to the University of Iowa Medical School where she has deeded her body in hopes that a cure for triple negative breast cancer can be found. She attended school in Independence and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1979. She attended the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, IA, and graduated in 1983 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting and became a Certified Public Accountant. Beth was blessed to work at the city with wonderful, talented, and devoted mayors, council members, and employees, whom she considered her work family. Beth loved spending time working in her yard, biking, cross stitching, and playing the piano. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. The tradition of Friday night dinners that started when the twins were just babies, was one of her favorites and has continued with her children, grandchildren, and sister.
