DUNKERTON - Leo Laverne Ortner, 69 years old of Dunkerton, IA, died Monday, August 26, 2024, at Care Initiatives – La Porte City Specialty Care in La Porte City, IA.

Visitation for Leo will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Thursday, August 29, 2024, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, where there will be a Vigil Service and time of sharing at 6:00 p.m.

A Funeral Mass for Leo will be held 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at St. Francis Catholic Church – Barclay, rural Dunkerton, IA. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. Francis Church Cemetery.

Leo was born June 15, 1955, in Waterloo, IA, the son of John Francis Ortner and Dorothy Irene (Weber) Ortner. He graduated from Waterloo East High School with the class of 1974. He had worked in the food service Department at Allen Hospital before his illness.

Leo is survived by one brother, Jerome (Lynn) Ortner of Waterloo; 4 sisters, Sharon (Mike) Woodward of Marion, IA, Monica Ortner of Waterloo, Veronica (Mike) Eldridge of Dunkerton, Rose Scarborough of Dunkerton, also many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Norm Scarborough; and two nephews, Michael “Mike” Woodward and Leonard McGee, Jr.
