JESUP - Beatrice Ann Phillips, 87 years old of Jesup, IA, died Sunday, June 23, 2024, at Arbor Springs in West Des Moines, IA.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 28, 2024, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial at St. Athanasius Catholic Cemetery. 

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 27, 2024, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, where there will be a parish rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Friday at the church.

Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic Church. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com

Bea was born September 14, 1936, in Buchanan County, IA, near Hazleton, the daughter of James F. Moore and Josephine G. (Maller) Moore. After her primary education in Stanley, IA, she attended St. Mary’s College of Nursing in Rochester, MN, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked as a nurse at area hospitals, and she also did home health care in Buchanan County before her retirement. On June 12, 1956, she was united in marriage to Delbert Francis Phillips at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, IA.  They farmed south of Jesup for many years before moving to town. Bea was an active member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed square dancing, card club, participating in Farmers Day melodramas, and was a member of the former Singing Nuns group.

Bea is survived by three daughters, Marcie (Steve) Miller of Waterloo, IA, Donna Meade of Fishers, IN, Ann (Rob) Blaser of Waukee, IA; three sons, Rick (Debra) Phillips of Jesup, Timothy (Angela) Phillips of Independence, IA, Ronnie Phillips of Rochester, MN; also son-in-law, Ken Thiry of Waterloo; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert (December 24, 2009); one daughter, Regina Thiry (April 20, 2020); three brothers, Norbert, Burton, and Joseph Moore; four sisters, Marian Stiefvater, Irene Moore (at birth), Carolyn Grummitt and Eva Welsch.
