Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m. - Friday, April 29, 2022, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 420 Harwood Ave, Waterloo. Burial will be at the Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation for an hour before services Friday at the church. Memorials directed to the family. Online condolences may be posted at www.White-MtHope.com Louise was born March 9, 1929, in Waterloo the daughter of Henry Ernest Alton and Josephine Elizabeth (Donavon) Alton. She graduated from East High School with the class of 1944. She was a member of the East High orchestra and chairman of homeroom savings stamp purchases during World War II. She retired from the transportation department at Rath Packing in 1983 after 30 years of service. She also volunteered with Cedar Valley Hospice and Allen College of Nursing for several years. Louise was married to William Volbruck in 1945 and they later divorced. She married James M. Geiger, November 3, 1954, in Waterloo. He preceded her in death. On January 26, 1990, she married Ray E. Heerkes in Jesup, IA, and they enjoyed many years of travel together before his death in 2011. Louise enjoyed working crossword puzzles, bird watching, travel, family and friends. She was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Waterloo. Louise is survived by a daughter Amelia “Amy” Stansbury of Evans, Co; one granddaughter, Kiersten (John) Guerrero of Wellington, CO; 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces; nephews; and her extended stepfamily. In addition to husbands, James Geiger and Ray Heerkes; one son, Dan Volbruck; one grandson, Kaleb Stansbury; 2 brothers Linden & George Alton; and 2 sisters, Evelyn Alton (in infancy) and Margaret Wolfer, preceded her in death. White Funeral home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements. |
