Independence – Lane D. Dilts, 85 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 28, 2021, at ProMedica Care Center in Waterloo, Iowa.  He was born on May 1, 1936, in Independence, the son of Verne and Gladys (Cornwell) Dilts.  He attended school in Independence.  On September 6, 1996, he and the former Geraldine K. Miller were married in Independence.  Mr. Dilts was a self-employed mechanic until retiring.  He enjoyed boating and riding and working on motorcycles.

Mr. Dilts is survived by his wife of 24 years, Geraldine, 4 sons, Steven Dilts of Oelwein, Iowa, Robert (Kristy) Dilts of Littleton, Iowa, Roger (Yolanda) Dilts of Fairfield, Iowa, and James (Lyn) Dilts of Jacksonville, Florida, and 2 daughters, Kathy (Dan) Allsup and Teresa (Dean) Kress , both of Quasqueton, Iowa.  He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Lila Harmon of Canton, Illinois.

He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 son, Larry Dilts, 3 brothers, Virgil Dilts, Homer Dilts, and Lloyd Dilts, and 2 half-sisters, Verna Schaeffer, and Ella Sondroll.

Funeral Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Rev. Lance Fricke officiating.  Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.  Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Thursday, December 30, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
