WATERLOO – Wendel E. Reece, 73 years old of Waterloo, IA, and formerly of Cedar Falls and Jesup, IA, died Monday, November 8, 2021, at Friendship Village Pavilion in Waterloo.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. – Friday, November 12, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church, Jesup, IA, with cremation following.  Visitation will be Thursday, November 11^th at the First United Methodist Church in Jesup from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. and for an hour before services Friday at the church.  Memorials may be directed to the family.

Wendel was born January 7, 1948, in Chicago, IL, the son of Eugene Reece and Joan (Grafmiller) Reece.  He graduated from Thornton Fractional South High School, Lansing, IL and then graduated from Southern Illinois University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering.  On July 1, 1989, Wendel was united in marriage to Vicki Jolene Lindley at Gary United Methodist Church, Wheaton, IL.  Wendel was a Certified Safety Professional and before retirement in 2019, was employed as the manager of Environmental Health and Safety at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls, also before moving to Iowa, Wendel served a Loss Control Specialist for CNA Insurance in the Southeast region (Orlando, FL), he also was employed by EBI insurance in Pennsylvania and Fireman’s Fund Insurance in Chicago.

Wendel is survived by his wife, Vicki of Waterloo; two daughters, Veronica Reece of Cedar Falls, Samantha Reece of Waterloo; two brothers, Eugene (Dawn) Reece of Shiocton, WI, Donald (Linda) Reece of Lansing, IL; one sister in law, Debbie Reece of Lowell, IN; and many nieces and nephews.  His parents; one brother, Roger Reece and an uncle, Donald Reece, preceded him in death.
