Independence – Betty Ann Locke, 78 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, May 2, 2021, at ABCM Rehab. of Independence – West Campus.  She was born on October 10, 1942, in Independence, the daughter of Raymond and Ruby Locke.  She graduated from high school in Independence, with the Class of 1961 and was a 1965 graduate of the University of Iowa with a BA in political science/education.

Betty was a junior high and high school social studies teacher in the Waukesha, WI, school system for her entire career – 1965 until her retirement in 1998.

She returned to Independence in 1998 and lived with her sister, Evelyn.  She enjoyed watching television, reading, and day trips and holidays with family.

Betty is survived by 1 sister, Evelyn Locke of Independence, and 1 brother Ray Locke of Waverly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 1 sister, Lois Locke, and an infant brother, David.

Graveside services will be  held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at Oakland Cemetery in Manchester, Iowa.  Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 4^th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence.
