Dunkerton – Kay Francis Aschbrenner, 74 years old of Dunkerton, IA, and formerly of Sherwood, AR, died Saturday, March 6, 2021, at MercyOne Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, IA.  Services will be at a later date.

Kay was born August 9, 1946, in Fairbury, NE, the daughter of John Charles McConnell and Eula Irene (McIntosh) McConnell.  She graduated from high school in Trenton, MO.  On April 21, 1969, she was united in marriage to Ronald Edward Aschbrenner in Miami, OK.  Ronald preceded her in death on September 19, 2020.

Kay loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them.  Her and Ron loved taking the kids to all the new places in Little Rock.  She loved to spend time with friends playing cards and cooking fun new things.  She was a wonderful cook and loved making recipes that her mother made.  Her family was the most important thing in her life.  She loved and cared for everyone of them.  She was happy and smiled all the time.

Kay is survived by three children, Steven Aschbrenner of Albia, Iowa, Cindi (Travis) Rigdon of Dunkerton, Iowa and Nathaniel Aschbrenner of 1`Cabot, Arkansas.5 grandchildren; Trevor Rigdon (Kayla Kremer) Cedar Rapids, Austin Aschbrenner (Katie Little) Dallas, Texas; Jared (Lindsey) Aschbrenner Beebe, Arkansas; Bryce Rigdon West Burlington, Iowa; Cassidy Rigdon Dunkerton, Iowa and 5 step-grandchildren. Two sisters; Mary Klenk of Monona, Iowa and Linda (Charles) Mullins of Trenton, Missouri.

In addition to her husband, Ronald, she is preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Charles McConnell; two sisters, Patricia McConnell and Beatrice Weakland.

White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA was in charge of the arrangements.
