Independence – Catherine L. Latham, 93 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Wednesday , February 17. 2021, at ABCM Rehab. Independence – West Campus in Independence.  She was born on June 30, 1927, in Independence, the daughter of Cecil Rhodes and Nina (Doebler) Latham.  Ms. Latham was a chief telephone operator for Northwestern Bell Co.  She was a member of the Business and Professional Women and the Buchanan County Historical Society.  She loved cats and donated to many wildlife protection organizations.  Her favorite holidays were Christmas and Valentines Day.  She was a woman of strong opinions who read constantly.

She is survived by 1 cousin, Fred Doebler of Mineral Point, Wisconsin, and her friends and neighbors.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

As was her wish, there were no services.  Her body was buried next to her parents in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence.

White Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
