Brandon – Helen G. Welsh, 93  years old, of rural Brandon, Iowa, died on Thursday, March 4, 2021, at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo, Iowa.  She was born on January 22, 1928, in rural Fairbank, Iowa, the daughter of Paul Gregory and Alta Lavina (Ohl) Shannon.  She attended the Fairbank country school.  On May 16, 1958, she and Kenneth Lee Welsh were married at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa.  They farmed and raised hogs and chickens near Brandon, Iowa.  Her husband preceded her in death in 2002.  Mrs. Welsh loved to crochet and play BINGO.

Mrs. Welsh is survived by 3 sons, Kenneth Welsh of Brandon, Kevin (Trish) Welsh of Ankeny, Iowa, and Kelly (Julie) Welsh of Jesup, Iowa, 1 granddaughter, Heather (Jeff) Kruse of Adel, Iowa, and 1 great grandson, Tobias Kruse.  1 brother, Cecil Shannon (Janet Wissler) of Oelwein, Iowa, and 1 sister, Joyce Leininger of Evansdale, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 3 sisters, Virginia Lumsden, Alice Brown, and Betty Linihan, and 6 brothers, Marshall Shannon, Howard Shannon, Duane “Red” Shannon, Leroy Shannon, Clarence Shannon, and Robert Shannon in infancy.

White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial may be directed to the family.
