Independence - Lucille Virginia House Wilson died on December 8, 2020, after a nearly 88-year journey on this earth.  She was born February 8, 1933, to Truman and Dorothy House in Hopkinton, Iowa.  She married at age 18 to Lyle Wilson and resided in Independence, Iowa, to raise a family of four surviving daughters: Ruth Eiffert of Chesapeake, VA, Becky and Rod Elson of Jesup, IA, Kay and Kevin Kiler of West Branch, IA, and Janean Jensen of Des Moines, IA.

She worked as an Avon Lady, church secretary, store clerk, and librarian, but she was also an avid gardener, seamstress, canner and baker. She hosted many friends for a game of cards or evening coffee visit, and she loved a good adventure, play performance, concert, or athletic event especially if her children or grandchildren were involved.  She liked a good joke, but she was also ready to talk about her faith and offer a prayer. Grandchildren reflect that she was fun and very patient; she was always ready to help.  She made a delicious chocolate cake or fruit pie, but the best was her pie crust rollups she made with left over pie crust.  She enjoyed the simple things in life especially out in God’s creation like an afternoon in a canoe, a bicycle ride, flying kites with a friend, or a hike in the mountains.

Her parents, two brothers, Harry and Phillip House, and her husband, to whom she was married for 54 years, preceded her in death. Her dear sister, Berdina Bell of Manchester, IA, four daughters and spouses, ten grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren survive her.

Private graveside services will be held at Rowley Cemetery in Rowley, Iowa, on Thursday, December 10, 2020.
