Independence – Jane Ruth Farr, 74 years old of Independence, IA, died Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.

Due to the Covid -19 Pandemic, there will be no public services at this time.  Family services will be held at a future date.  Memorials may be directed to the family in care of White Funeral Home, 1315 Main Street, Jesup, IA  50648.

Jane was born June 23, 1946, in Rounds, England, the daughter of Donald Harrison Richards and Joan Ruth (Bottoms) Richards.  Her family moved to Waterloo, IA, where Jane graduated from East High School.  She worked as a nanny for several years.  In recent years she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jesup; she was part of the Prayer Shawl group at the American Lutheran Church in Jesup, as well.

Jane had a giving heart and loved to knit; spending time with her grandsons (“her little chickadees”) also brought joy to her heart.

Jane is survived by one daughter, Vicki (Steven) Samec of Jesup; two grandsons, Donald and Tyler; one sister, Susan (Randy) Hahn of North Liberty, IA; and one brother, Michael Richards of Denver, IA.

Her parents preceded her in death.
