Hazleton – Carol Jean Bate, 66 years old of Hazleton, IA and formerly of La Porte City, IA, died Thursday, October 22, 2020, at MercyOne – Mercy Hospital in Oelwein, IA.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at the White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. A Celebration of Life will be planned for a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family.
Carol was born October 15, 1954, in Marshalltown, IA, the daughter of John Chris Rosenau and Darlene Marian (Stufflebeam) Rosenau. She graduated from West High School in Waterloo, IA, with the class of 1972. In June 1973, she was united in marriage to Robert Carlson in Waterloo, IA. They later divorced. On May 20, 1995, she married Kevin Douglas Bate at the American Lutheran Church in La Porte City, IA, where they made their home until moving to near Hazleton about five years ago. Carol worked at ASI Computer Systems and Mudd Advertising in Cedar Falls. Most recently she worked as a Health Care Coordinator at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein. She recently retired in the fall of 2019.
Carol is survived by her husband, Kevin Bate of Hazleton, IA; three sons, Christopher Carlson of Englewood, OH, Joshua Carlson of Melbourne, IA, Darrin (Holly) Carlson of Readlyn, IA; two step sons, Derek (Steffanie) Bate of Sumner, IA, Curtis Bate of Littleton, IA, 13 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; two sisters, Donna (John) McElhaney of Waterloo, IA, Debra (Troy) Graybill of Shell Rock, IA; and two brothers, John Rosenau and Darrin (Lesbia) Rosenau of Jacksonville, FL. Her parents preceded her in death.
