White Funeral Home Jesup – Darlene M. Bender, 86 years old of Prairie du Chien, WI and formerly of Jesup, IA, died Sunday, April 19, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Prairie du Chien. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, her family will observe services privately with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery in Jesup. Memorials will be directed to the family. Darlene was born May 11, 1933, in Mason City, IA, the daughter of Frank Kasik and Leota Mae (Frantz) Kasik. She graduated from Mason City High School with the class of 1952. On February 14, 1953, she was united in marriage to Ernest Francis Bender in Mason City. After moving to Jesup, Darlene worked 19 years at John Deere in Waterloo, IA. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She also was a member in Eastern Star Chapter #189 in Jesup. Darlene is survived by one son and daughter in law, Michael Bender and his wife Diane Bender of Farmington, MO; two daughters and sons in law, Kristie Carey and her husband Bruce Carey of Colorado Springs, CO, and Ellen Bender Mossman and her husband Scott Mossman of Prairie du Chien, WI; 11 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Ernest; her parents; one sister, Patsy Kelly and one great granddaughter, Addisyn Menuey, preceded her in death.
