Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 3, 2020, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, rural Dunkerton, IA.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Monday, March 2nd at the White Funeral Home, 1315 Main Street, Jesup, IA where there will be a rosary at 4:00 p.m. and Vigil Service at 7:00 p.m.  Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed to the family for support of Lisa’s children, Kathryn and Elizabeth Dolan.

Lisa was born on November 24, 1973, in Waterloo, IA, the daughter of Melvin John Sadler and Theresa Ann (Even) Sadler and was raised in Dunkerton, IA.  She graduated from Dunkerton High School in 1992 and received her Bachelor of Arts degree at Iowa State University, Ames, IA, in Elementary & Special Education in 1997.  She later received a Master of Science degree from Iowa State in Curricular & Instructional Technology.

Lisa was a devoted mother, wife, daughter, sister, and friend. Her life’s passion was children, including her two daughters, her nieces and nephews, and her students. Though she was a mother to so many, Lisa’s own children, Kathryn and Elizabeth, were the absolute light of her life. She married Alan DeRoos on July 4th 2019, and he brightened her life with their many adventures together and love for each other. Lisa was a devout Catholic and exemplified her strong faith on happy days, tough days and all days in between. Her positive attitude and fighting spirit were inspirational. She truly lived life to the fullest, spending as much time as possible outside on the family farm or taking memorable vacations with family and friends. Lisa’s generous and fun spirit especially showed during the Christmas season with a Christmas tree in every room and more baked goods than anyone could eat. Lisa shared her love of books with children, serving as a teacher and then media instructor for 22 years in the Ames School District until her illness required her to retire during the 2018 - 2019 school year. Her goals as an educator were to keep the classroom innovative and exciting, and you would always see her with a smile discussing the new technology she had obtained for her students. Lisa was so generous in life and remained so grateful to her “village” and community that reciprocated that kindness during her toughest journey in life. Lisa made an extraordinary impact on the lives of so many and will be remembered for her generous spirit and unwavering hope and optimism.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Alan DeRoos; two daughters, Kathryn Dolan and Elizabeth Dolan at home; her parents, Melvin & Theresa Sadler of Dunkerton; two brothers, Russell (Ann) Sadler of Dunkerton and Larry (Lauren) Sadler of Cambridge, IA; one sister, Denise (Joe) Gray of Dunkerton, one stepson, Caleb (Alyssa) DeRoos of Kansas City, MO; one stepdaughter, Jessie (Jason) Redmann of Gibbon, MN; and two step grandchildren, Noah and Gavin Redmann. Her grandparents, Leonard & Mae Sadler, Werner & Frances Even; and first husband, Ryan Dolan, preceded her in death.

White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA is in charge of the arrangements.
