White Funeral Home Independence - Thelma E. Anderson, 74 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died on Sunday, December 22, 2019, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence. She was born on March 27, 1945, in Carroll, Iowa, the daughter of John Edwin and Gertrude Freda (Knoell) Eiben. She graduated from high school in Grey Eagle, Minnesota. On November 23, 1963, she and Robert Benjamin Anderson, Jr., were married in Grey Eagle. He preceded her in death in 2007. Mrs. Anderson was a home maker for her growing family, but she also helped support the family when needed. She was a waitress, managed detasseling crews, and she was a customer service representative for Toyota Financial Services. She retired in 2008. She enjoyed working in her rose and vegetable garden, all sports (but especially Vikings football), vacationing on Big Birch Lake, Minnesota, and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mrs. Anderson is survived by her 2 daughters, Vicki (Tim) Moffatt of Independence, and Kimberlee (Doug) Wilson of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and her 5 sons, John (Lori Finn) Anderson of West Richland, Washington, Rob (Kim) Anderson of Marion, Tom (Jodi Lyn) Anderson of Chariton, Iowa, Garry (Andria) Anderson of Independence, and Larry (Melinda) Anderson of Albia. She is also survived by 9 granddaughters, Melanie (Josh) DeKleine, Tiffany Anderson, Sailor Anderson, Haddon Anderson, Bryn Wilson, Natalee Anderson, Summer Anderson, Makenna Anderson, and Amanda Hardin, 12 grandsons, Curtis Anderson, Robbie Anderson, William Anderson, Lucas Anderson, Carter Anderson, Nolan Anderson, Benjamin Anderson, Alec Anderson, Cory Matteson, Zane Wilson, Dillon (Nicki) Moffatt, and Robert Hardin, 5 great grandchildren, Aubree Moffatt, Brantley Moffatt, Cailee Moffatt, Josiah DeKleine, and James DeKleine, and 1 sister, Shirley Johnson of Algona, Iowa, and 4 brothers, Ardell (Ruth) Eiben of Atlantic, Iowa, Norman (Mary) Eiben of Reston, Virginia, Lyle (Darline) Eiben of Lowell, Massachusetts, and Jerry (Linda) Eiben of Dubuque, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 brother, and 2 sisters. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, December 30, 2019, at the Union Church in Quasqueton, Iowa, with Rev. Kevin Jennings officiating. Burial will be in Quasqueton Cemetery in Quasqueton. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, December 29th, at the White Funeral Home in Quasqueton. |
