Lucille was a long time member of St. John’s Catholic Church, where she was an active volunteer and a 40 year member of Catholic Daughters. She was also involved in many organizations in Independence including the American Red Cross, donating over 40 quarts of blood in her lifetime, the American Legion Auxiliary, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, 4-H Clubs, Girl Scouts and Garden Club. Playing Bridge, collecting buttons, and gardening were a few of her hobbies. Lucille was a wonderful hostess and made holidays very special for her family and friends. She particularly enjoyed her roles as Grandmother and Great Grandmother and her legacy shines on through her family. Mrs. Mason is survived by her 4 daughters, Mary Beth (John) Turgasen of Iowa City, Iowa, Susan (Cory) Kissell of Bloomington, Minnesota, Pam (Ed) Winfield of Burnsville, Minnesota, and Jill (Jack) Dicker of Dallas, Texas, 8 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 1 son, Joseph E. Mason, Jr., 1 brother, and 3 sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 5, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Winthrop, Iowa. Rev. David Beckman will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence . Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 4th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence, and after 9:30 a. m. on Thursday, Dec 5th, at St. Patrick’s Parish Hall in Winthrop prior to the service. |
