She was born November 18, 1923, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of John Philip and Georgia Mae (Osier) Henn. She graduated from high school in Waverly with the Class of 1941. She graduated from Wartburg College in Waverly in 1944. She taught in the East Buchanan school system for several years and then, she taught in Plainfield, Iowa, for 31 years. After teaching, she worked for the State of Iowa Department of Employment Services as a Claims Specialist. She was a Special Investigator for the Fraud Unit and an Employer Liability Auditor. She retired in 1983. On June 10, 1951, she and Charles David Metz were married. They divorced in 1970. On January 15, 1997, she and William J. Holt were married in Winthrop, Iowa. He preceded her in death on May 24, 1997. Mrs. Holt was formerly a member of the Catholic Daughters and she was a charter member of the Alpha Pi Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed playing bingo, slot machines, and cards. Mrs. Holt is survived by her dear friend, John Thimmesch of Independence, 1 step son, Stanley (Angela) Holt of Delhi, Iowa, 5 step grandchildren, 10 step great grandchildren, and 2 step daughters-in-law, Patricia Holt of Harpers Ferry, Iowa, and Sharon Holt of Quasqueton, Iowa. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, 2 step sons, Roger Holt and Marlon Holt, and 1 sister, Marjorie Cuffel. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17, 2019, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Winthrop, Iowa. Rev. David Beckman will be the Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery in Winthrop. Friends may call for visitation after 9 a.m. on Wednesday, July 17th, at the Parish Hall in Winthrop. |
