Mary was born on March 2, 1921 at Lost Nation, Iowa to John and Ada Pearl Snyder. After graduating from West High in Waterloo, she worked for several years at Rath Packing Co. Credit Union. Mary and Vernon were married in 1943 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed in the Independence area until retiring in 2006. Preceding Mary in death were her husband, parents John and Ada Pearl Snyder, Leroy and Mildred Haines; brothers James, John, Marvin, Frank and Norman Snyder, Richard, Billy, Darwin Haines and one sister, Velma Snyder and one infant grandson, Michael. She is survived by three daughters, Susan (Robert) Smith of Mt. Pleasant, Sheila of Des Moines, Sheri (Norman) Klein of Altoona, one son, Kenneth (Mary) of Ocala, FL. Surviving also are three grandchildren, Jeffrey (Teresa) Smith, Karin (Trent) Linkin, Sydney Scribner; three great grandchildren Melissa (Michael) Shaw, Zachary Smith, Trever Linkin, three great, great grandchildren, McKInley Sue, Marlee, Maddix Shaw; and one sister Beverly (Alroy) Hagen and two brothers Steven (Carol) and Michael (Sue) Haines. Her favorite things to do included quilting, gardening and teaching Sunday School and VBS at First Baptist Church. She also worked with 4-H youth for several years. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the family. White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements. |
