Greene – Samuel LaVerne Aurand, 64 years old, of Greene, IA, died, Monday, April 29, 2019 at the Waverly Health Center, Waverly, IA, following sudden illness.

Sam was born October 3, 1954, the son of Douglas LaVerne Aurand and Helen Francis (Mallas) Aurand. He graduated from Waterloo West High School and later attended Hawkeye Community College. Sam worked at John Deere before moving to Tulsa, OK where he worked for McDonnell-Douglas. Later he moved back to Iowa and obtained his tool & die journeyman’s license. Sam was presently employed by American Tool & Engineering in Greene, IA.

Sam is survived by his daughter, Tessa (Matthew) Lemons of Urbandale, IA; his grandchildren; his mother, Helen Aurand of Evansdale, IA; and 3 sisters, Julie (Chuck) Hobert of Evansdale, IA, Linda Martin of Sarasota, FL, and Debra Hanson of Folsom, CA. His father preceded him in death.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.
