Troy Mills – Winifred Leota Pillard, 93 years old, of Troy Mills, Iowa, died on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at her home in Texas after a short illness.  She was born on January 27, 1926, in Delaware County, Iowa, the daughter of Warren and Ethel Pearl Hankins Hamblin.  She graduated from high school in Coggon, Iowa, with the Class of 1943.  On August 19, 1948, she and Malvin Frederick Pillard were united in marriage at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Coggon.  The couple farmed in the Brandon and Troy Mills area.

Winifred enjoyed spending time with family and friends in the summer in the Troy Mills-Coggon area and wintering in Texas.  She loved her flowers and watching birds.  Winifred loved traveling and seeing the United States.  She was a Past President of the Buchanan County Farm Bureau and she was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Winifred is survived by her four children, Elaine Pillard of New Hampton, Iowa, Cecil (Shirley) Pillard and Raymond (Norma) Pillard, both of Troy Mills, and Yvonne (Carl) Gryschuk of Indianapolis, Indiana, thirteen grandchildren, and 27 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Malvin, one sister, Velda Boss, and two grandsons, Jamie Pillard and Justin Johnson.

Memorial Services will be held at a later date.  White Funeral Home of Independence, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
