White Funeral Home Jesup – Jean Elizabeth Frush, 91 years old, of Jesup, IA, died of natural causes, Saturday, January 5, 2019, at her home. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. - Saturday, January 12, 2019 at American Lutheran Church, Jesup, IA, with burial at Cedar Crest Cemetery, Jesup. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Friday, January 11, at White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA. Visitation will continue for an hour before services, Saturday, at the church. Memorials will be directed to the church and other organizations. Jean Elizabeth Palmer was born August 3, 1927, outside of La Porte City, IA, in rural Benton County; the daughter of Verian Cato Palmer and Bessie Isabelle (Rowe) Palmer. She graduated high school in La Porte City with the class of 1944 and then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo, IA. On October 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Lloyd “Bus” George Frush, at the First United Methodist Church in La Porte City, IA. They made their home outside of Jesup where they farmed and raised their family. After a short time in Tripoli, IA, they moved back to the Jesup area before moving to town in 1969. Lloyd preceded her in death on March 25,1997. Jean was very active in her family and her community. She enjoyed going to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren’s activities and was always there to help them in any way she could. She drove a school bus for 15 years in the Jesup School District, coordinated the Meals on Wheels program, and cooked at Thompson’s Cafe for a number of years. She loved to bake, especially cookies. Jean also liked to play cards and was a member of different card clubs, playing Pepper and 500. She was an active member of the American Lutheran Church in Jesup, where she volunteered much of her time. Jean is survived by 4 sons, Kurt (LouAnn) Frush, Craig (Marilyn) Frush, Doug (Ruth) Frush, all of Jesup, IA, and Brent (Sharon) Frush of Colorado Springs, CO; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 1 sister, Dorothy (Harold) Huck of La Porte City, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lloyd Frush; 1 granddaughter, Kristy Frush; and 2 brothers, Glenn Palmer and Robert Palmer. White Funeral Home, Jesup, is in charge of arrangements. |
