Independence – Delmar R. Walton, Sr., 80 years old, of rural Independence, Iowa, died at his home on Tuesday, November 6, 2018.  He was born in BuchananCounty near Quasqueton, Iowa, on October 6, 1938, the son of Wilbur Lee and Margaret Marie (Steinberg) Walton.  He attended school in the Quasqueton area.  On March 16, 1985, he and the former Pauline Alma Sutton were married in Oelwein, Iowa.  Mr. Walton was a heavy equipment operator and a long haul trucker until retiring in 2013.  He tied his own flies and made fishing poles which he used when he fished for trout.  He also enjoyed hunting and gardening.

Mr. Walton is survived by his wife, Pauline, 5 daughters, Cindy (Tim) Vogel of Waterloo, Iowa, Becky (Tom) Nisius of Waverly, Iowa, Brenda (Marvin) Stuhrenburg of Mt. Auburn, Iowa, Kim (Ron) Moore of Webster City, Iowa, and Theresa Walton of St. Ansgar, Iowa, 1 son, Delmar R. (Dianne) Walton, Jr., of Quasqueton, Iowa, 12 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.  He is also survived by 5 step daughters, Sherrie (Erick) Prall of Kemp, Texas, Colleen (Loren) Weikel of Wasilla, Alaska, Connie (Jim) Moore of Cody, Wyoming, Caroline (Kevin) Close of Independence, Iowa, and Terri (Christopher) Baldwin of Neenah, Wisconsin, 2 step sons, Lain (Angie) Slife, Sr., of Independence, and Jerry Slife of Winthrop, Iowa, 15 step grandchildren, 13 step great grandchildren, 2 step great great grandchildren, and 1 sister, Linda Walton Blanc of Tucson, Arizona.

He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 stillborn son, Timothy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 10, 2018, at the Calvary Evangelistic Center in Independence.  White Funeral Home of Independence is in charge of arrangements.
