Independence – Ronald E. Lentzkow, 83 years old, of Independence, Iowa, died on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at Lexington Estate in Independence. He was born on August 17, 1935, in Independence, the son of William John and Dora Minnie (Gosse) Lentzkow. He graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1953. On April 16, 1955, he and the former Sharon Ann Cragg were married in Dubuque, Iowa. Ron was a carpenter like his father and brothers. He never missed a Saturday night at the Independence Motor Speedway and was active in his church. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Independence. He loved singing in the choir. He was a member of the Independence Bowlers Hall of Fame. Most of all, he took great pride and joy in his family.
Ron is survived by his wife of 63 years, Sharon, 2 daughters, Linda (Russell) Kiefer of Oxford Junction, Iowa, and Ellen (Terry) Bloomquist of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 2 sons, Steve (Linda) Lentzkow of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Mark (Sarah Grover) Lentzkow of Peoria, Illinois, 9 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 great granddaughter, Claire Tiernan, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, October 16, 2018, at the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Sue Ann Raymond officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. Friends may call for visitation from 9 a.m. until service time at the church on Tuesday.
